University of Central Florida is the second largest University in the US. It is located in Orlando, a top touristic destination, within short drive from Cape Canaveral, Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf beaches.
The research project involves computational modeling of the reaction rates in supercritical fluids.
Responsibilities include pursuing graduate education at PhD level, contributing to monthly progress reports,
and using computational tools of quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, and statistical mechanics.
The thesis will focus on the reaction mechanisms of fuel combustion at high pressure in supercritical media.
Qualifications:
M.S. or B.S. degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering or related areas.
Fluency in oral and written English.
Computer coding ability in Linux shell script, python, FORTRAN, MATHLAB or similar.
Experience running MD computer programs, such as CHARMM or Tinker is required.
Working knowledge of ChemKin, CanTherm, Gaussian is a plus.
Application:
Applicants should submit a CV, including an e-mail address and phone number for two references, General GRE and TOEFL scores, and reprints of published papers, if available. A short statement explaining the motivation for working on the project and for undertaking a PhD will be helpful.
